Job Title: HR Generalist
Location: Sacramento, California
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled HR Generalist with over 4 years of experience for a client of ours in handling various human resources functions, including pre-employment, onboarding, recordkeeping, safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proficient in HR software, Microsoft Office, and possess strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate job offer communications and documentation to applicants and new hire communications documentation to new employees.
- Maintain the key ordering and distribution process in coordination with the Facilities Manager, in accordance with the key policy.
- Create, distribute, and track new and replacement employee badges.
- Create and maintain personnel-related files, including active, terms, benefits/confidential, Crisis Nursery, etc.
- Ensure compliant I-9s are completed and properly stored/maintained.
- Perform data entry into databases accurately and timely.
- Maintain the DMV Pull Notice Program enrollments and terminations for employees, AmeriCorps members, and unpaid interns.
- Code invoices from pre-employment vendors, submit to HR Director for approval, and submit to the Finance department for payment.
- Administer Workers’ Compensation, safety, Cal/OSHA in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, including COVID-19 requirements.
- Implement the return-to-work program and maintain regular communication with injured employees, assigned claims adjusters, and Workers’ Comp broker.
- Document and maintain accurate and thorough records of all related activities.
- Create and maintain an up-to-date Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP).
- Act as the Safety Officer, chair the organization’s Safety Committee, and manage all related activities.
- Conduct injury/illness investigations and prepare hazard assessments.
- Prepare monthly OSHA 300 reports and annual OSHA 300-A reports and enter data into the OSHA Injury Tracking website annually.
- Perform ergonomic workstation evaluations and consult with the Director of Human Resources regarding potential recommendations for workstation changes.
- Provide basic interpretation and guidance to all levels of staff regarding Human Resource policies, systems, and practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate Human Resources-related training, including New Employee Agency Orientation.
- Create and deliver employee surveys using SurveyMonkey and other resources, prepare reports from results, and provide to the Director of Human Resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices related to areas of responsibility.
- Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately, make corrections as needed, and keep the HR Director informed of audit outcomes.
- Cross-train with and act as back-up to other HR positions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Over 4 years of experience in human resources.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills and experience with database management.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Pay range:
$30.33 - $34/hour
